A striking illuminated heart joins Fitzrovia's Christmas lights
Love Is in the Air Reprise is a large-scale illuminated public art installation that transforms Claire Luxton’s original portrait into a giant three-dimensional red heart. Measuring five by six metres, the inflatable artwork will take to the skies above Little Portland Street, appearing to float above the street and creating a striking visual feature in the heart of Fitzrovia Quarter.
Rather than being displayed within a traditional gallery, the artwork brings contemporary art directly into the public realm. Suspended above the street, its oversized form will be visible from the surrounding junction, inviting visitors, residents and people working nearby to look up and experience the installation as they move through the neighbourhood.
After dark, the illuminated heart will become a focal point along the street, adding another creative display to London’s festive landscape. If you are planning an evening walk to admire the city’s seasonal illuminations, make the most of your trip by exploring the best Christmas lights in Central London, from Oxford Street to Regent Street and beyond.

The story and inspiration behind Love Is in the Air Reprise
At the heart of the installation is a celebration of the many ways love shapes our lives. From the bonds shared between family and friends to the meaningful relationships we build with those closest to us, Love Is in the Air Reprise highlights the connections that bring people closer together. Its message feels particularly fitting during the festive season, a time when shared moments, familiar faces and spending time with loved ones take on special significance.
The illuminated heart gives this sentiment a simple yet powerful visual form. Its familiar shape represents affection and warmth, while its larger-than-life scale gives the symbol a presence within a shared public space.
By bringing the artwork into Fitzrovia’s streets, the installation offers a gentle reminder of the importance of human connection amid the pace of everyday London life. It invites passers-by to pause, appreciate the message and share a moment with others as they explore the neighbourhood.
Meet Claire Luxton, the artist behind the installation
Claire Luxton is a British contemporary multidisciplinary artist represented by MTArt Agency. Working across photography, immersive installation and poetry, her practice explores the relationship between humans and nature, alongside themes of beauty, identity, vulnerability and the female experience.
Drawing inspiration from art history, the natural world and classical symbolism, Luxton creates distinctive visual compositions that combine self-portraiture, carefully constructed sets and expressive imagery. Her work often incorporates botanical and animal references, using colour, texture and symbolism to build imaginative visual narratives.
With Love Is in the Air Reprise, Luxton brings her original portrait into a new public setting, transforming the image into a large-scale illuminated installation. This adaptation extends her visual practice beyond the traditional gallery environment, allowing a wider audience to encounter her work within the streetscape of Fitzrovia.
