For adults, Halloween is the perfect excuse to stay out late, dress up and explore the more playful side of Central London. Fitzrovia also puts you within easy reach of Soho, so you can start the evening around the neighbourhood before moving towards one of the grown-up activitiesnearby.

The Lucky Pig – Murder, Mayhem & Mystery: Death Among the Shadows

If you like your Halloween with a dash of decadence, The Lucky Pig Cocktail Bar is the spot. Hidden underground in Fitzrovia, the speakeasy-style bar is stepping into a dark Victorian world for Murder, Mayhem & Mystery – Death Among the Shadows.

Your ticket includes a glass of fizz, wine or beer, canapés and an immersive murder mystery, followed by live music and a late-night DJ. Gothic costumes are part of the fun, with guests invited to take inspiration from Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster, The Woman in White or another suitably sinister character. There is also a prize for the best-dressed guest, before the evening moves into its DJ afterparty from 11pm.

Of course, Halloween isn’t only about late-night parties. Families and older children can also find plenty of family-friendly activities around Central London, from comedy-horror sightseeing to theatrical attractions built around the darker side of the city’s history.

Take a ride on The London Ghost Bus Tour

  • Duration: Around 75 minutes

  • Age guidance: Children aged 5+ are welcome, with parental guidance recommended for under-12s

The London Ghost Bus Tour turns sightseeing into a comedy-horror theatre experience on wheels. Climb aboard a vintage 1960s Routemaster and travel through London with a creepy conductor, live actors and special effects bringing some of the capital’s ghost stories to life.

The route begins near Trafalgar Square and passes landmarks including Westminster Abbey, London Bridge and the Tower of London. There are jump scares along the way, but the experience mixes the spooky stories with plenty of humour, making it a fun choice for families with older children who enjoy a little Halloween mischief.

Step into The London Dungeon

If your family prefers its Halloween with more screams, The London Dungeon brings together live actors, immersive sets, special effects and some of the darker stories from London’s past. Expect familiar names such as Jack the Ripper and Sweeney Todd as you move through interactive scenes built around around 1,000 years of the capital’s history.

The attraction is particularly suited to families with older children and teenagers. The recommended age is 12+, although children aged five and above can enter at a parent or guardian’s discretion, and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Teams walk around a massive 15-meter x 15-meter board guided by live actors. To buy properties, groups must solve escape-room style puzzles inside themed rooms. During late October, the game introduces spooky variables, making it a thrilling but entirely safe and fun challenge for teenagers, adults, and kids alike. Afterwards, the on-site restaurant, The Top Hat, serves British staple dishes with playful, themed twists.
